The Lowe Syndrome Trust would like to thank all of the 16 cyclists that took part  in a gruelling 350Km cycle challenge over four days through the mountains of Sicily.  The event was a wonderful success, so far raising almost £25,000 for vital medical research into Lowe Syndrome, an incurable children’s disease.

The cyclists taking part were Alf Comparini, Anne Marie Hoyle, Paul Keeling, Neil Buckingham, Glenn Ellis, Danny Farmer, Dave Ingram , Paul Spelling, Declan Gilley, Simon Barrett ,Andrew Thomas , George Dilloway ,James George ,John Hibberd , Robert Levy and Mike Fennings

The team were challenged by hot humid weather and continuous uphill cycling to reach their destination of Mount Etna, the biggest live volcano in Europe. The team are pictured below on Mount Etna.

Sadly, one of the cyclists, Danny Farmer, completed the challenge but had a serious accident on the return to the hotel breaking his leg and arm requiring four hour surgery to insert metal plates.  Danny pictured in Taormina hospital with Lowe child Oscar.
