THE LOWE SYNDROME TRUST

BLACK & WHITE CHARITY BALL WITH TONY HADLEY, MARTIN FRY AND THE FABBAGIRLS

As Patron of the Lowe Syndrome Trust, I would like to personally invite you to take a table at an exclusive preview of the Tony Hadley and Martin Fry 2005 Tour on Saturday 21st May 2005 at the Mandarin Oriental, Knightsbridge.  The Fabbagirls one of the world’s most sought after Abba tribute bands, will also be joining us in supporting the Trust.

Lowe syndrome is a most horrendous children’s disease affecting the brain, eyes, kidneys, bones and muscles (all children are born either blind or partially sighted, some never walk, other problems include arthritis, seizures, rickets, glaucoma and many more symptoms).  Sadly, due to the complications of the illness most children do not survive into adulthood.

The charity, formed in June 2000, is small and voluntary with no government funding or support and is the only charity worldwide dedicated to raising funding for medical research into the disease.

The Trust has already established a UK Scientific Advisory Board of eminent professors of medicine and through fundraising events such as this have been able to award four UK research projects (Great Ormond Street, Imperial College London, University College London and Dundee University).  In addition, the charity has contributed funding to three projects in the USA and helped fund a joint USA/UK Symposium.

This event will allow the Trust to award another grant for research into the disease which will hopefully lead to better treatments and eventually a cure.

I do hope you can support me and the charity by attending the evening, which will help raise awareness of the disease.

Details of the event are attached but if you require any additional information, Lorraine Thomas, Chair of the Trust, who has a son with the condition, will gladly speak with you.  Please call her on 0208 458 6791 or 07958 444020.

Yours truly

Tony Hadley
