UK Soccer star Mathieu Flamini becomes patron of Lowe Syndrome Trust - December 2006 

Mathieu with Oscar Thomas who has Lowe Syndrome Mathieu Flamini who plays for London football team Arsenal has become a Patron of the Lowe Syndrome charity.  By becoming a Patron, Mathieu intends to help promote fundraising for medical research by the charity and awareness of  Lowe Syndrome. 

The Lowe Syndrome Trust was founded in June 2000 by parents of a child diagnosed with the Lowe Syndrome disease. The charity  is small, and voluntary with the aim of raising awareness and funding to support medical research into Lowe Syndrome, an incurable children's disease which affects the brain, eyes, kidneys, bones and muscles. In Sept 2007 Arsenal donated £2000 to the Charity as part of a scheme where top flight clubs choose local charities for the Premier League to help out. See local news story  The donation is part of the Premier League's Place for Players initiative, where the 20 clubs in the league are given money to donate to local charities. The Lowe Syndrome is one of more than 20 charities handpicked by the Gunners. Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said: "We wanted to help as many good causes as possible through the Places for Players initiative, and so I hope the £2,000 donation will help them to continue their fantastic work."

Mathieu at the Lowe Charity Ball Mathieu was born in France whom he represented at the European Championships in the under-21 international during the Summer of 2006. Mathieu joined Arsenal from Marseilles in 2004 and is now an established member of Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger's squad.

Arsenal are based at the Emirates Stadium in north london and are recognised as one of the giants of English football and are London's most successful Football Association (F.A) Premier League club with three Premier League titles.
