ING NEW YORK MARATHON   - 7th November 2004 with Runners World

Thank you for expressing an interest in the New York Marathon. To apply for a package please read through the booking procedures and then complete the attached slips at the end of this page.

 

THE PACKAGE - The Lowe Syndrome Trust is working in conjunction with 2:09 Events, Official Agent of the New York City Marathon who have an allocation of guaranteed race entries that are available – either the fully supported hotel package or a flight and entry only package.

In addition to staying in one of the best hotels in Times Square, the superior 4-star Crowne Plaza right in the centre of Manhattan at Times Square.  The package starts from the minute you sign up.

You will be contacted by the staff of Runners World who will offer training plans or simply answer your training questions – depending on your needs  - and will be putting on a special training day in Central London in September with training tips by 1983 London Marathon winner Mike Gratton who has a best finishing position of 16th in New York, plus an ‘Inside the New York Marathon’ slide show by Runners World editor Steven Seaton; and of course a training run with guides running at different speeds from around 7 minutes per mile to a get your round ‘run-walk’ group.

When you get to New York, you will be able to meet up with the team again and ask any last minute questions and if you are in New York by Friday morning, 2:09 events will be leading a short warm-up run into Central Park so you can get  a feel of the finish area.  You will also be able to make use of a sports therapist to smooth any last minute niggles and there will be Tour Leaders on hand to make sure your hotel stay is exactly how it should be.

There is simply no better package available to the New York Marathon !

BOOKING PROCEDURES A travel deposit of £200 per person and entry fee of £80 will be payable at the time the runner registers for the Full or Flight and Entry package.  This is not refundable.

The runner should book and send the deposit to the Lowe Syndrome Trust who will then make the reservation on behalf of the runner and pass on the travel deposit and race entry fee.  A Confirmation and Invoice will be sent to the runner to comply with ATOL requirements.  All balance payments are to be collected by the Trust by the due date. All requested places will be guaranteed up to the 1st June.  Each runner will then be required to pay the full amount to cover Flight/Entry Fee/Accommodation – see below.  Each Runner will be asked to raise the remaining amount by 7 February 2005.

Option 2 – Entry £1600

Flight and Entry Place deposit £280.00 at time of booking non-refundable.

Flight,Entry Place and 3 night accommodation £720 by 8th September 2004.

Remaining amount by 7th February 2005.

 

This will add up to the £1000 Trust requirement, but any additional money raised will be greatfully appreciated!

 

CROWNE PLAZA HOTEL   Broadway between 48th and 49th streets. Right in the heart of not only Manhattan but Times Square as well, the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan is the perfect location for Marathon weekend.  About 1 mile from Central Park and the race finish area, 1 mile from the Javits Conference Centre for race registration, in the middle of the Theatre district, great shopping all around and within easy reach of landmarks like Grand Central Station, Chrysler Building, Rockerfeller Centre, MTV Studio’s Empire State Building and if you are travelling with youngsters, the amazing Times Square Toys R Us with its thrilling indoor Ferris Wheel.

The hotel has a restaurant overlooking the bright lights of Times Square and a cosy bar overlooking Broadway.  All of the hotel rooms have been recently up graded to include bright dιcor, new carpets throughout and a TV entertainment system that includes a games consul and internet access.  The rooms have bathrooms en suite with hairdryer, climate control, coffee maker, safe and mini bar.

The hotel features one of the biggest fitness centres in New York with a 50ft indoor swimming pool and a gym with work out rooms covering an entire level of the hotel.

Choose between 3, 4, 5, 6 or more nights. Choose between Twin, Single, Triple, Quad and Child.

The Lowe Syndrome Trust will advise you on various costs.

CHILDREN IN NEW YORK - New York is a wonderland for youngsters - superb street life, skyscrapers, shops, ice skating, fabulous museums and if the children are under 12 years at the time of the tour they just pay for the flight as long as they share a room with the adults.
